Asics Announces Global Launch Of Gel-Kinsei® 3 Featuring New Technical Innovations
IRVINE, Calif. (March 10, 2009) – ASICS® introduces the GEL-Kinsei® 3, the brand’s latest stride toward engineering a truly adaptive shoe for all types of runners around the world. The latest version of ASICS’ most technical running shoe combines the best of previous models with several new innovations including a significant reduction in weight, a new Guidance LineTM system and updated features to increase comfort and breathability. The GEL-Kinsei 3, ASICS’ most innovative model to date, will launch globally in October 2009.
Rooted in the success of its predecessors in the GEL-Kinsei series, this new model introduces an innovative adaptive technology in the form of the new Guidance Line system. With a long vertical groove that flows the length of the shoe, the Guidance Line encourages the foot to repeat an optimal path through the gait cycle, thereby creating a more efficient gait and ultimately reducing fatigue.
Another notable upgrade to the GEL-Kinsei 3 is a significant reduction of the shoe’s weight to a remarkable 12.6 ounces, compared to the 14 ounces of the GEL-Kinsei 2. Innovations that helped reduce the weight and provide benefit and comfort include:
• a re-worked heel environment that is more stable, reduces irritation and offers a customized fit;
• a newly designed Propulsion TrussticTM that enhances proper foot function; and,
• additional GEL® Cushioning System in the forefoot for improved comfort and function.
“The GEL-Kinsei 3 continues to be the ‘house of innovation’ for ASICS,” says Jim Monahan, VP of Footwear for ASICS America Corporation. “It’s our most technically advanced shoe and provides a true performance-oriented ride that our customers expect.
Although previous models in the series were hailed around the world for its superior comfort, the GEL-Kinsei 3 also takes comfort to the next level by removing the synthetic overlays used on the exterior of previous versions. Instead, an open-mesh environment not only provides a better fit and breathability, it also contains an exclusive nano-scale metal film that is applied to the mesh under-layer which provides tremendous thermal qualities, releasing heat to keep the foot cool in warm environments, while retaining heat in cool conditions.
The Kinsei 3 will retail for $180 and will be available at specialty running stores beginning in October 2009.
