Mika Brzezinski Named Team for Kids Ambassador

Runner is co-host of popular MSNBC show Morning Joe - NEW YORK - The New York Road Runners' Team for Kids program received a boost last Thursday when Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, was named the first TFK ambassador. Team for Kids is a committed group of adult runners from around the world who add meaning to their miles by raising funds on behalf of NYRR youth services, and in return, receive guaranteed entry into premier NYRR events, including the ING New York City Marathon, where more than 1,200 people will run as part of the group on Sunday, November 7, 2010.

Brzezinksi's role as journalist and champion in the fight against childhood obesity will allow her to fully engage in the Team for Kids mission.

As part of the announcement, a bipartisan lineup of national leaders including New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, political analyst Pat Buchanan, U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, news commentator Norah O'Donnell, and many others joined NYRR president and CEO Mary Wittenberg as she made the announcement official on-air during the inaugural Morning Joe Bipartisan Health Challenge to raise awareness for the fight against childhood obesity.
